The book is an outcome of a two-day national conference on Language, Literature and Diversity, organised by Birla School of Management, Birla Global University, Bhubaneswar on 15-16 February 2019 which aimed at exploring the issues of diversity in literature and their position in human life. It also aimed at finding diverse perspectives to language teaching besides delving into the dynamics of interdependence between them. The research scholars and faculty from the universities and institutes of repute presented their research papers on various aspects of the theme that cover theoretical and practical aspects of the study of Language and Literature in a World of Diversity. Out of twenty research papers presented, twelve papers were selected for publication after a rigorous review process. This edited book covers themes like the aspects of alienation and denial, the power politics of homogenizing the diverse, colonial policing the cultural divide in post-colonial India, environmental concerns in contemporary indigenous writings, celebration of self in the cosmopolitan world, negotiating of boundaries, sexual politics and sex-gender relations. It also gives the readers a deeper understanding of ELT practices in the Indian context, teacher’s efficacy. storytelling as a genre approach, the lost voice of native language, challenges in bilingual and multi-lingual class, and above all CLT and Task-based methods of language teaching. The papers vary from theoretical to empirical research.
