Emerging contaminants are compounds of environmental concern for which the environmental impacts are not fully understood and have largely been outside the scope of monitoring and regulations in water and environment. Such contaminants are a serious issue and have been reported to be on rise in various countries throughout the world including India. The emerging contaminants which have been prominently reported are endocrine disrupting chemicals, pharmaceuticals and personal care products, surfactants and their degradation products, plasticizers, pesticides, flame retardants, nanomaterials, radioactive compounds, hazardous biological materials etc. The ecological disturbances and negative health impact on people caused by these contaminants are on rise and need to be addressed immediately with utmost care. Considering the seriousness of the issue being addressed, this exclusive conference will be an excellent platform to bring together scholars researchers, governmental and non governmental agencies and industries together to share their knowledge, experience and problems faced with respect to emerging contaminants from origin to treatment.
